    SBC measured Better World Books’ first two carbon footprints and created a number of carbon metrics for the company to track its climate performance alongside its traditional business performance indicators. We helped the online retailer understand where the “hot spots” were in its operations and identify opportunities for improvement. 

    Sustainability Implementation

    SBC worked with Better World Books to identify the best internal sustainability tracking and reporting metrics, and then provided the company with tools and training to track its sustainability progress and calculate its own carbon footprint going forward.

    We also worked with the company to quantify the number of carbon offsets and renewable energy credits (RECs) necessary to offset the emissions related the procurement and shipping of its products to end consumers. We partnered with 3 Degrees to identify the best, third-party-verified offset opportunities for Better World Books that met its sustainability, financial and brand requirements.  We also helped the company deploy a sustainability survey to engage employees and developed sustainable travel policies.
