Assessment

SBC worked with Coinstar’s key employees and stakeholders to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of their current sustainability efforts and create a baseline to measure operational performance. We scored the company in eight specific areas and provided recommendations for improvement, which included a number of cost savings opportunities as well. 

Climate Change + Carbon Footprinting

We calculated Coinstar’s first carbon footprint and communicated the results using normative factors so that the company’s employees could fully grasp how the results impacted them, their work, their departments and the planet.   We worked with the firm to:

  • Determine the scope of the inventory to decide which aspects of business operations to include
  • Gather and analyze data from its energy, transportation, waste and material usage
  • Conduct a commuting survey to track how employees get to work
  • Develop communications materials to report the findings of the footprint and assessment

Sustainability Strategy

SBC also supported the company in developing internal goals to guide their sustainability efforts. We provided benchmarking research on industry-specific vision & goals, and conducted carbon reduction scenarios to help Coinstar understand how to reach their goals
